library information

Library Hours:
  • The NHS Library is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • The NHS Library is open during both lunches on Friday.  Please see Mr. Sparks for a lunch pass before you come to the library during your lunch.
  • Please see Mr. Sparks if you need extra library time to work on a class assignment.
Using the Library:
  • You must have a pass from your teacher to be in the library.
  • Please sign in when you arrive and sign out when you leave.
  • If you are using a computer, please check one out from Mr. Sparks.
  • Make sure Mr. Sparks signs your pass when you return to class.
Checking Out Library Materials:
  • You may check out 3 Library resources at a time.
  • Check out period is for two weeks, overnight for Reference sources.
  • Flash drives are available for check out, but are for day use only.
  • Digital cameras, flip video cameras, and other specialized equipment are available for student check out, provided it is for a class project.  See Mr. Sparks for more information.
Printing Information:
  • All printing must be school related!
  • Default Printer is LIB1606 on NARROWS HS and prints only in Black & White.
  • To print in COLOR: ask Mr. Sparks, only certain computers are connected, each copy costs $0.50.
  • If your work is not printing, please do not continue to send print jobs!  See Mr. Sparks instead.
Overdue Fines:
  • Overdue fines are issued every other Wednesday to your 4th Block teacher. 
  • Fines are $.05 per item per day.  Fines will not exceed $3.oo per item.
  • Even if you have returned an overdue item, you still need to pay your overdue fine.
  • Be on the lookout for Library Fines Grace Day during Teen Read Week in October and National Library Week in April.
  • Also, during Thanksgiving and the holiday seasons, you can bring in a canned food item in lieu of your fine.  All donated food is given to local food shelters.
